📝 The intended route

The first three dungeons earn the Spiritual Stones as child Link. After the seven-year skip, the five adult temples each grant a Medallion. The Spirit Temple is split across both eras.

What is the dungeon order in Ocarina of Time?

What is the hardest dungeon?
The Water Temple is widely considered the hardest, because of its three changing water levels and the constant need to equip and remove the Iron Boots. The Shadow and Spirit Temples are also tough.
How many temples are there?
There are five named Temples in the adult era — Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow and Spirit — plus the Temple of Time hub. Counting all dungeons and mini-dungeons, there are 12 in total.
Which dungeon gives which Medallion?
Forest Temple → Forest Medallion, Fire Temple → Fire Medallion, Water Temple → Water Medallion, Shadow Temple → Shadow Medallion, Spirit Temple → Spirit Medallion. Each clears the way to Ganon's Castle.
